The solution is a compact sawing centre

The KASTOcenter compact is a modular, automated sawing centre for long materials that requires minimal floor space. It combines a tower storage system, robot-assisted material feeding, a roller conveyor, suitable sawing technology and automated removal into a coordinated complete system.

From the raw material in storage to the sawn section, all process steps are seamlessly integrated. The required material is made available as and when needed, clearly assigned to the respective order and guided through the process without unnecessary manual handling.

Non-productive times are reduced and largely automated operation becomes possible. Depending on the system configuration, manual tasks are limited to storage, pallet changes or part removal.

Modular components for automated material flow

KASTOcenter compact is not a rigid, off-the-shelf system. The solution is configured to suit the range of products, quantities,
material, capacity, floor space and desired downstream processes.

Warehouse technology for space-saving and demand-driven provision

The automated tower storage system stores raw materials in a protected, well-organised manner within a compact footprint. The required items are made available for the sawing process as and when needed.

Depending on capacity and height requirements, the system can be equipped with the KASTOecostore, offering a system height of up to 8 m, or the UNITOWER, offering a system height of up to 24 m.

Robotics for material separation

The KASTOpick robot-assisted material separation system retrieves the material and transfers it safely to the next station. This reduces the need for manual handling and the risk of misallocation.

At the same time, the automated transfer creates the conditions for a largely unmanned material flow.

Sawing technology for different materials and diameters

The KASTOload roller conveyor reliably transports the material to the saw and positions it for the next stage of the process. Depending on requirements, the KASTOcenter compact can be combined with various saw models – from the KASTOssb vertical band saw and the KASTOvariospeed metal circular saw to the KASTOwin or KASTOtec metal band saws.

This ensures that the solution remains flexibly scalable, from a compact all-rounder to a high-performance fully automatic machine, and can be adapted to the material, diameter, cycle rate and production method – whether for individual orders, varying production runs or industrial applications.

Smart waste collection through to process integration

KASTOsort handles the automated removal and targeted storage of the sawn sections. Depending on requirements, parts can be sorted, stacked, palletised or picked.

Additional processes such as deburring, blowing off, cleaning, measuring or laser marking can be integrated as optional extras. This means that automation does not end with the saw cut, but can extend right through to preparation for the next production step.

Who is the KASTOcenter compact suitable for?

The KASTOcenter compact is suitable for companies that wish to process a wide variety of product variants fully automatically, but whose volumes and storage requirements do not necessitate a large cantilever racking solution.

Compared to the classic KASTOcenter sawing centre with cantilever racking, the KASTOcenter compact is designed for small to medium-sized stock quantities. As a guideline: if requirements are below around 500 cantilever racking bays, the compact tower storage solution can be considered.

The system thus bridges the gap between manual sawing and large centralised solutions: full automation, high flexibility and a compact footprint – tailored to the actual production volume.
 

The solution is therefore particularly suitable for:

  • Businesses with around 20 to 30 different items or more
  • Manufacturing operations with a high variety of variants and small to medium quantities
  • Companies requiring fewer than around 500 cantilever racking bays (as a guide)
  • Production facilities with limited floor space or scarce staff resources
  • Applications where storage, sawing, removal and downstream processes are to be fully automated
