Bandsaw technology for the steel trade

Tried-and-tested technology in practice. Day in, day out.

At steel and metal distributor EHG, 60,000 tonnes of stock, 20,000 items in over 150 grades, around 40 KASTO automatic band and circular saws, and around 5 million cut-to-size pieces per year are subject to the highest standards of availability and reliability. At the heart of it all: the KASTOssb. EHG has relied on this series since 1997 – today, five KASTOssb A 2 machines are in operation and prove day after day that reliable sawing technology pays off in the long term.

“We use many KASTO saws. The ssb, which we have relied on for over 20 years, has proved particularly effective. They run reliably, require very little maintenance and are universally applicable – even for materials that are difficult to machine.”
Alexander Palli | Workshop Manager at EHG Stahlzentrum

Highlights of the new generation of band saws at a glance

Electromechanical saw feed:

Targeted use of energy

Servo motors instead of a hydraulic system. The drive only consumes energy when sawing is actually taking place, which promotes energy-efficient and quieter operation. Automatic feed control is fitted as standard; as an option, KASTOrespond optimises the cutting parameters to minimise scrap.

A new generation of control systems:

Easier to use, better overview of processes with KASTO ProControl

The dashboard, material library, cutting plan and intelligent cutting optimisation provide greater transparency in the sawing process. Simple Mode makes it easier to get started, whilst diagnostic and analysis functions help to quickly pinpoint faults.

Optimised chip conveyor:

Flexible installation, space-saving

The chip conveyor can be fitted on the right or left. Its new design makes installation and removal easier and reduces the space required for removal – a significant advantage where production space is limited.

Service-friendly design:

Easier access

Split cladding and hinged rear doors improve access to the saw blade and components requiring maintenance, thereby making the machine significantly easier to service. At the same time, it can be integrated more compactly into existing production layouts.

Up to 260 mm

Wide range of applications for tubes, sections and solid material.

Bundle cuts

Efficient machining of various material forms.

Suitable for carbide tools

Optimised for use with carbide-tipped saw bands

From individual machines to fully automated sawing lines

The KASTOssb can be configured to suit the level of automation in production. This results in a scalable solution that can grow in line with the requirements of the business.

KASTOssb AC 2.6 in a production environment

Compact band saw technology for flexible sawing tasks

The new generation of the KASTOssb AC 2.6

Whether used as a stand-alone band saw or in combination with a roller conveyor, the KASTOssb AC 2.6 offers a flexible yet compact solution for a wide variety of sawing tasks. It is suitable for tubes, sections, solid material and bundle cutting, and thanks to its space-saving design, it is ideal for production areas with limited space.

Automated sawing processes for continuous material flows

As the fully integrated KASTOssb FC 2.6 variant

Automated material infeed as well as feed and discharge peripherals for more continuous material flows and less manual material handling. With KASTOsort robotic handling, warehouse integration or full integration into the new KASTOcenter compact sawing centre, the KASTOssb can be expanded as required to form a fully automated material flow solution.
